Terms of Service
This document describes the default terms of use for Sovereign, the open-source self-hosted platform this instance runs. It states only what is generically true of using the platform software — nothing here is specific to who operates this particular instance.
If this instance's operator has replaced this document with their own (adding eligibility rules, acceptable-use specifics, or a governing law), that version governs instead of this one. Sovereign, the open-source project, is not a party to your use of this instance.
Accounts
You're responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for activity under your account.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use this instance for illegal activity, to harass or abuse other users, to attempt to access accounts or data that aren't yours, or to disrupt the service for others. This instance's operator may remove content or suspend accounts that violate this section; they may also set additional rules specific to their own community.
Your content
You retain ownership of the content you create on this instance. Using this instance grants only the rights needed to store, back up, and display your content back to you and, where you choose to share it, to other users you've shared it with. Neither the platform nor its operator claims ownership of your content or uses it for purposes beyond operating the instance and what's described in the Privacy Policy.
Installed apps
The apps available on this instance may change over time as this instance's operator adds, removes, or updates them.
Availability
This instance is provided on a best-effort basis. Neither uptime nor data durability beyond normal backup practices is guaranteed, and no availability commitment applies to any particular app.
Suspension and termination
This instance's operator may suspend or terminate an account for violating these terms. You may delete your own account and data at any time from your account settings.
No warranty
This instance and the underlying Sovereign software are provided "as is." The Sovereign open-source project bears no responsibility for how any specific instance is operated.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, no warranty or liability beyond what's stated above is assumed by the Sovereign open-source project for your use of any self-hosted instance.
Changes to this document
This is the platform's default terms document, versioned with the platform's own source code. It changes when the platform's default behavior changes, tracked in the project's own release history.
